Plein Air Washington is a group of artists dedicated to the fine art of painting on location in natural light.

It is so exciting to be able to do something that you love so much and have it benefit not just folks that live today, but folks that are going to be here in the future. Such was the paint out that we had in conjunction with the San Juan Island Perservation Trust. Our efforts went towards shaping a more beautiful future for the pristine jewels of Washington, the San Juan Islands. It is my sincere hope that we as a group of plein air painters can contribute more to the safety and perservation of our environment!

Without further ado, here are some excerpts from our paintout last week. If you missed the festivities know that the entire show will be displayed at the San Juan Gallery for the month of August with a reception this weekend Saturday August 9 from 6:30 to 8:30. Call the gallery for more info. Proceeds from sales there will still benefit the Trust!

Matt Dollohite, owner of the San Juan Gallery got an early start painting this year before the paint out. Matt is featuring the show in his gallery for the month of August with a reception on Saturday. Proceeds go to benefit the San Juan Perservation Trust. Visit the website for more info.

Sylvia Carlton, chief cook and bottle washer....not....Founder and Administrator of PAWa found some time in her busy schedule to get a painting done. Without her who knows where we'd be? Thank you Sylvia!!!

Internationally known, prize winning, and Washington resident artist Ned Mueller discusses his value temperatures with Auctioneer Mike Adams at the San Juan Paintout festivities. It's always a treat to be able to paint with Ned and PAWa is extremely forutnate to have him in our group.
Award winning artist Jane Wallis joined PAWa at the Red Mill Farm to add her mark to this paint out.  Jane is both an educator and Internationally known artist who teaches workshops around the world. It's a pleasure to paint by her side!
