‘Plein Air Washington Artists’ is a group of people who love the adventure of painting outdoors. We are dedicated to the fine art of painting on location in natural light to document the diverse and breathtaking scenery of our beautiful state.
In 2014, our focus was to celebrate the magnificant waterways of our state. In December we opened our "Nature's Gift of Water" juried exhibition at the American Art Company, in Tacoma. Winners were 1st - Jim Lamb 'Valley Stream', 2nd - Melanie Thompson 'Sweet Desert', 3rd - Jan Jewell 'Alpenglow', Best Plein Air - Robin Weiss 'The Bridge at Bloedel', Honorable Mention - Christine Troyer 'Winter Melody', and Honorable Mention - Susan McManaman 'Morning at Artist's Point'. Congratulations to all the winners!
For 2015 we will focus on 'Meadows to Mountains'. We’re very excited to paint and promote the dynamic landscapes that surround us. Check our events page for updates throughout the year, including paint-out and show details. Whether you paint, draw or simply admire, you’re invited to join us as we celebrate the beauty of Washington State.
Our members include artists of all levels of experience who benefit from sharing ideas, techniques, and enthusiasm; while enjoying the friendship and fellowship of people with our shared passion.
